Our site

Calverley Vineyards lies on a 2 acre south facing  site on the Skyline ridge in the Tualatin Hills  AVA. Our soil is Cascade class III silt loam with slopes of 5 -15%.

French vines in Oregon soil

Calverley Vineyards is block planted with 4 Pinot Noir clones: 777, Pommard, 115, and Swan. Each clone brings unique characteristics and contributions to wine produced from our vines. We also utilize 4 rootstocks: 1103P, 420, Schwarzmann, and 3309C, each of which gives the vines varying drought tolerance, growth vigor, and nematode resistance.

Farming Philosophy

Calverley Vineyards is dry farmed, using organic farming methods and materials. Each vine is "touched" more than a dozen times each year during the pruning, tying, spraying, and picking process. Our relatively small size gives us the opportunity to more intensively inspect for and manage vine care issues.

What happens to the fruit?

Our primary focus has been to produce high quality fruit for winemaking. Fruit from our vineyard has been utilized by Eugene Wine Cellars (winemaker Bruce Biehl) and Marigny Wines (winemaker Andy Young).

While Calverley Vineyards has not produced our own wine as of yet, it our hope to produce a vineyard cuvee in the future, so stay tuned.
